2010年10月5日，美国国际贸易委员会（ITC）投票决定对部分接地故障断路器及包含该部件的产品（certain ground fault circuit interrupters and products containing same）启动337调查。该涉案产品通过电插座对通过该设备的任何不平衡电流的检测来中断电流，以避免可能发生的触电或电死。

2010年9月3日，美国立维腾制造公司向美国ITC提出申请，指控美国市场销售及美国进口的部分接地故障断路器及包含该部件的产品侵犯了其专利权，要求启动337调查，并发布排除令和禁止令。
